Director of Development
The ultimate ambition of the Latymer Foundation is to achieve a need blind admission process for Latymer Upper School, where any child with the academic potential is able to join, irrespective of their financial situation.
Continuing to build the Latymer Endowment is critical to achieving this ambition and donations to the endowment are therefore the lifeblood of our long term financial success. The Latymer Endowment is invested on a total return basis and the annual return is used to fund bursaries for current students whilst the capital remains invested for generations to come.
£750,000 in new endowment is currently required to create a fully-funded bursary at Latymer in perpetuity.
If you would like to make a donation to our endowment, and help guarantee the long-term success of our bursary programme, please click the donate button below. We thank you for any support you are able to give.

Leaving a gift in your will can help future generations of young people achieve their dream of a Latymer education.
The Latymer Foundation was created by a legacy gift from Edward Latymer in 1624, and as we approach our 400th Anniversary, we hope that legacy gifts can help secure the future of our bursaries programme. Since this first gift, legacy gifts have made a vital contribution to the growth of our bursary programme at Latymer. Legacy giving is an incredibly powerful way of supporting the Foundation. By making a gift in your will, you will support the transformative power of a Latymer education long into the future. Gifts large and small are welcomed, whether a specified sum or a percentage of your estate (for example, 1.624%).
How to leave a legacy gift
Leaving a gift in your will couldn’t be easier. It is straightforward and tax efficient and as a registered charity, no. 312714, a legacy to the Latymer Foundation is free of Inheritance Tax so your gift can reduce the amount of tax your estate would otherwise have to pay.
There are a number of different types of legacies which can make a real difference to the future of the Latymer Foundation. We encourage you to discuss with a solicitor which type would best suit your circumstances.
Residuary bequest
A residuary legacy is the whole, or a percentage share, of everything that you own (i.e. your ‘estate’), once all gifts, debts, taxes and costs associated with it have been deducted. The benefit of residuary legacies is that the value is not affected by inflation as there is no fixed sum.
Pecuniary bequest
This is a gift of a fixed sum of money. These types of legacies can often be affected by inflation and their value may decrease over time from when the will was originally made. It is, however, possible for the amount to be increased in line with inflation in order to safeguard the value of your gift. You should consult a solicitor and/ or accountant about index-linking your bequest.
1624 Society
By letting us know that you will include Latymer in your will, you become a member of the 1624 Society. The society enables us to recognise and celebrate those who choose to leave a legacy gift, and members are invited to an annual reception hosted by James Graham, the President of the 1624 Society and the Head.
