Inspiring Minds Gala Dinner

May 3, 2018

On Thursday 3rd May, nearly 350 members of the Latymer community came together for the Inspiring Minds Spring Gala Dinner.

As guests arrived, they were treated to jazz music from our Head of Economics and some Sixth Form students in the historic Main Hall. Following some words from David Goodhew, our guests walked towards the Sports Centre for dinner and encountered small groups of students played Mozart’s String Quartet in C Major along the way.

The Sports Hall was transformed into a beautiful spring garden where there was dinner, an auction and dancing until late! Compere Jason Isaacs, actor and Latymer parent, was joined by fellow actor and parent Mark Strong for a reading of Alan Rickman’s 2007 Prize Giving speech. After dinner, Jason Isaacs introduced a short film (produced specially for the event) which gave guests a chance to hear first-hand about the life-changing impact of the bursaries programme on all our students.

A very lively auction, led by Lord Dalmeny of Sotheby’s, had many guests raising their hands, and an online auction drew participation from across the School community.

Thanks to the collective generosity of attendees, bidders, and well-wishers, we raised over £1,000,000 which was matched by an anonymous donor bringing our total to an outstanding £2,000,000. The outpouring of support from across the School community and beyond has been overwhelming, and we are enormously grateful to everyone who participated in any way in the event. It was a truly memorable evening and the money raised will fund bursaries at Latymer for generations to come.
