Recital by Trio Shaham Erez Wallfisch

April 26, 2018

On Thursday evening, 26th April, the Trio Shaham Erez Wallfisch performed in the Recital Hall at Latymer Upper School, in front of a full audience of Latymer pupils, parents, alumni and staff. The trio is made up of three renowned solo performers each of whom combine teaching careers with chamber music. Pianist Arnon Erez and violinist Hagai Shaham have been a duo for many years. Both are leading Israeli solo performers. British cellist and Latymerian (class of 1971) Raphael Wallfisch met the others playing chamber music together at the Pablo Casals Prades Festival.

The first half of the programme included a piece by Grieg:  Andante con moto and finished with Dvoȓák:  Piano Trio No. 4 in E minor ‘Dumky’. After a short interval the trio continued with their final piece by BeethovenPiano Trio in B flat major, Op. 97  ‘Archduke’. The group played perfectly attuned, with the music flowing out of them unimpeded; the instruments seems virtually an extension of themselves. It was a truly amazing evening leaving everyone feeling completely mesmerised.

All of the money raised from the evening went to the Inspiring Minds campaign, which is helping to offer bright children a Latymer education irrespective of their financial background.  Raphael himself  benefited from a free place at Latymer and consequently was thrilled to support this great cause.
