Latymer Laughs Event

Latymer Laughs

26th September 2021 from 6.30-9.30pm

Latymer Theatre

We are thrilled to announce a line up that celebrates the finest comedic talents we are so lucky to have in our Latymer community.

In a theatre transformed into our very own comedy club, kicking the evening off is Live at the Apollo star, and celebrity who got out of there, comedian, writer and Latymer parent Shappi Khorsandi, whose relentless wit you’ll have seen on TV, heard on Radio 4, and read in two warmly-received books. Catch Shappi just as her ‘IT WAS THE 90s!’ tour takes off!

Also enjoy performaces from writer, actor and producer of stage and screen Jack Waldouck (2007), whose ventures into the comedy world can be enjoyed in a series of online shorts. We also have the 'pioneer of grizzly bear comedy' and owner of Twice as Nice Comedy, Sam Deards (1996), who you might recognise from Backyard Comedy, Collywobblers, Clapham Comedy club, or the Dead Parrot Society.

Taking to the stage next is Hatty Preston, International Lady Laughs Festival headliner, and 2018 winner of Court Jester Comedy’s Breakin' Thru’ Stand-Up competition! A face you might recognise from a memorable performance as Princess Maribel in Lionsgate’s ‘The Royals’, we catch Hatty upon her return from the Chicago comedy circuit, as she launches her comedy night, 'The Big Fizz'.

Last but not least before the break, we’re delighted to welcome Latymerian Saul Boyer (2010), now an actor, comedian, award winning writer and founder of Unleash the Llama productions. Following on from a sell-out run of 'JEW...ish' at the Edinburgh Festival and the Kings Head Theatre, Saul will be performing the first preview of his upcoming Edinburgh show, ‘Man of 100 Faces’, and we can’t wait to see them!

Chill to live jazz in the interval, before charging your glasses to enjoy a headline set from world renowned comedian, panel show regular, and Latymer parent, Bill Bailey. We are immensely lucky to nab “the finest stand-up comedian this country has to offer” (The Times) before he sets off on his international arena tour, ‘En Route to Normal’. “As perfect a comedy package as you could hope to find” (The Times), you can’t go wrong.

Whisking us through this comedy carousel is our compere for the night, actress, comedian, novelist, treasured television presenter and Latymerian parent Mel Giedroyc. Latymer Laughs is shaping up to be the hot ticket for autumn 2021!

We will harness your big laughs to make a big difference. All funds raised will go towards our Inspiring Minds bursaries campaign, designed to create and futureproof as many opportunities as possible for the next generation of Latymerians, striving to ensure that the only criteria for entry to Latymer are ability and potential.
